I am a strengths-based, trauma-informed licensed mental health counselor/psychotherapist with over 16 years of experience. Along with a strong background in clinical trauma, my subspecialties include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, adult attachment and inner-child work, and mental health issues impacting marginalized groups including but not limited to women, ethnic minorities, the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, and countless intersectionalities of all of these and more. We’ll examine how your unique life experiences have affected the lens through which you see the world and your place in it.
Our clinical journey together will identify the specific behavioral patterns that sabotage the innate human desire for happiness. Cognitive distortions and misperceptions of the past hinder the capacity for real emotional growth and change in the present. I believe that my role as Therapist is to provide support and encourage insight and curiosity. I will challenge old ways of thinking that no longer serve you and hold space for self-exploration, self-acceptance, and healthier thought processes. I may use informal “experiments”, “homework”, and prompts to increase self-reflection beyond our therapeutic sessions when clinically appropriate. Assisting clients in identifying solutions to their challenges and “stuck” thinking increases the efficacy of the clinical process.
Human beings are not a monolith, and one size does not fit all when it comes to therapy.
As your therapist, I hold a safe space for you to process your emotions. Therapy is a judgement free zone.
I take an integrated, holistic approach where I use my experience to select the techniques that will help you the most.
I will examine psychological, family of origin, socio-cultural, environmental, gender identity, sexual orientation, and spiritual factors, in understanding your experiences and the challenges you’ve faced.
Typically, your initial sessions will involve gathering and evaluating your information. Let's get to know each other.
In addition to clinical interviews, I use Anxiety, Depression, and other measurement tools to determine the frequency, duration, and severity of your concerns as well as your treatment progress over time.
At the conclusion of this evaluative phase, I will discuss treatment recommendations and we will collaborate on developing your goals.
Treatment plans vary considerably depending on the nature of the problem, the situation, individual needs, and characteristics of each client.
